The Destruction of 13/15 Hawthorne Crescent, Stokes Valley.

Unbelievably after well over two years of just sitting there (mostly empty) the developers have finally demolished the unique, characterful property at 13 Hawthorn Crescent. It is now a wasteland of rubble waiting for more hideious over priced new 'homes' only property investors can afford.

With it's cost, ($1,200,000) someone must be hoping to make a huge profit on the site which is a nice size but not as big as the blight at the bottom on Tawhai Street. If our development is anything to go by, (same builder) the noise will be hell and the treatment of the local residents shabby.

For the next six months there will be lorries rumbling, vans and utes illegally parked, cement mixers and the noise will be immense. If you are lucky they will not work on Sundays. The builders have, and been fined for this.

Here's the house they knocked down. New Zealand's obsession with building overpriced houses no one can afford continues.
