CHRISTMAS 2025 UPDATE

Sadly, there are still bright unshielded lights shining up into the trees on the Tawhai Street Development. Bayleys are doing their best to see if the lights can be adjusted, and they have been awesome so far, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that we may get our ruru (moreporks) back when the lights are dimmed.

The safety fence Bayleys (and I earlier) asked for looks excellent, it fits in with the area. Unfortunately the lights shine though it and, also upwards on to the house next door.  No wonder the ruru are giving us a wide berth.

On to the major news. The vintage looking property in Hawthorn Crescent. Shown intact here:

Is well on the way to being destroyed.

Either that or someone is completely stripping it back and refurbishing it and extending into the property next door (unlikey).

As the selling price in 2021 was $1,204,000 (confirmed here BEWARE the pop up). I am assuming the development will either be high rise and expensive or a hideous development like the one on Tawhai Street.  How this will work I am not sure as both sites are wide at the top and much narrower at the back.

Windows are all broken and the window frames have all been taken out as you can see.

The mystery continues but, as I say, either refurbished (unlikely) or demolished and redeveloped into another eyesore.
