It Keeps on Getting Worse

If you were impressed by the report on 2nd December of the towering three storey buildings on Tawhai Street, you will find the creeping horror of the buildings less than one meter (3 feet away) from our fence even more horrific.

There is nowhere in the houses of the cul-de-sac that does not have these ugly frameworks towering over them. The building behind the ones you see in the above photo shows you just how huge the Tawhai Street properties are.

If you want to go into the garden forget it. The building workers are constantly on the building that towers over us and privacy is non-existent. Christmas will be accompanied by towering grim frameworks that will not be finished for another four months of noise, noise and more noise.

Is anyone surprised that my dislike of Hutt Council and it's cavalier developers continues to grow as an astonishing rate. This summer is a write off as far as gardening goes and I reman unconvinced that the fool of an architect has ensured our privacy in the slightest.

Thousands of shrubs and trees are being destroyed across the Hutt Valley and essential drainage is being removed. Gardens are being replaced by concrete slabs and teeny tiny trees. Very small shrubs are pathetic replacements to what is being destroyed such as the 20 year old Feijoa and plum trees across the back fence.

I am wholly reliant on the growth of the trees I planted over two years ago. They cannot grow fast enough to obscure the ugly houses being built.  The whole thing is absolutely hideous and Hutt Council has let residents of Stokes Valley down badly with this unwise social build, isolated as it is, far from the 'local shops' and amenities.

Everyone living on the development will need at least one car and there are a small hand full of parking spaces so they will park on the road.

Building is never quiet but, in spite of the site manager's courteous responses to my protests, the cats refuse to go out when the builders are there and I cannot garden without risking my hearing.

The whole development has little to recommend it. Squeezing families into such a cramped space with nowhere to play does not bode well for local residents.
