Bullying Tactics

Not only are Friday Homes suddenly (after over two months) working on Saturday mornings and ruining the local communities' weekend today, Monday 7th October, they raised the bar on callous disregard of local people.

Not only did we have a crane moved on to the site at 6 45 a.m. we have a noisy generator around the corner making life hell for the residents at the bottom on Tawhai Street.

First the Crane

Builders are permitted onsite from about 6.30 to prepare, without any construction noise. 

At 6.45 a massive crane was driven on to the site making as much noise as the diggers and vibrating roller do during the day. This counts as construction noise which is not meant to start until 7 a.m. so I dropped the Council a quick note voicing my concern and querying the starting times. Our lovely neighbours have a little baby, I bet she loves being woken up so early 😒 (not).

I don't hold out much hope of anything beyond reasons and sorries as Hutt Council is powerless to intervene and builders have free reign while building very expensive, very small houses and destroying a host of gardens. 

The Generator

This beast is parked around the corner and must be driving the residents of the lower end of Tawhai Street round the bend. It appears to be a generator.

It is huge and abnormally noisy. If it was in front of my house all day I would be making a formal noise complaint. Maybe the residents work and are not too concerned. I hope so because they like me, have a ringside seat.
