The Management

We had 'the Management' striding round the Tawhai Street 'development' this lunchtime. Only the management would have clean donkey jackets. No work is happening on site due to the mains work (see below).

They spent some time looking at the corner nearest our house. As I have a great view of  the work being done and they glow in the dark, they are easy to spot!

I am always concerned when they do this because I believe the collection of trees that overhang their 'development' are at risk of being cut down. In spite of me being told they are OK by a member of the Urban Plus staff, they may not realise (or care?), that Moreporks', Tuis, Silvereyes and Fantail are numerous in the area and use the trees.

There is a magnificent gum tree (see photo) and several trees on the development and I am expecting  some of them to be cut down.

Water Mains Excitement!

This week Tawhai Street, Stokes Valley and Kereru Grove are having major pipe work connected to the mains. Not for current properties I think (ours works fine) it's for all the new properties being built. Wellington Water did a great job with the water leak repair we had earlier this year so I know they will (eventually) do a good job.

This work connects the pipes currently taking forever to be installed along the top half of Glen Road. The work will take four days - they hope. So everyone has to full every available utensil with water they need during the four day work period. Sadly, they are already over running so we shall see what happens.

Glen Road is in the running for ugliest street in Stokes Valley (for June) right now with trucks, utes and workmen's vehicles clogging the intersection. Lots of the vehicles also use Tawhai Street driveways to turn around in.

After all no-one wants to walk very far to work do they?
