A House in Glen Road
I though I would showcase one of the houses demolished to make way for a development in Glen Road.
No. 64 and the house alongside it, which had two houses in a very long section (!) made up enough space for 21 small town houses. "Suitable for young professionals and young families" the seller's site says.
Needless to say, the entire garden was decimated and concreted over, similar to the sections in Tawhai Street. The developers claim to be putting in trees if you believe their schematic.
I hope so. The prices start at $699,000 (that's $700,000 really). This is well beyond the reach of so many families which is sad but par for the current government's course. Their support is for landlords, not for working people hoping to save enough for a home.
What's gone up in it's place?
This is the back of a selection of the houses on Glen Road. The backdoors will face the main road (I think) so we can expect them to be leaving by the backdoor most of the time.
Their small 'entertainment area' faces inward towards the central car park and the other houses. There are no gardens for the young families but they can play in the car park.
